There's always room for improvement!!

Now we are at the end of our practical project, looking back there are small things that could have improved our piece:

  • Lighting
  • More worked out practical scedules
  • More work on the editing
  • More items for the Blog
  • Keeping on top of the Blog entries
Although, there is plenty that would be improved, there is EVEN more than we are happy with:
  • Camera shots used
  • The choice of turning the screen red, when filming the protaganist's eyeview
  • Name of the piece
  • How many scenes we produced and got into two minutes
  • The amount of enigmas that will be created
  • The teams effort to get the GRADE

Representation

Characters appearing in our opening sequence:

  • Katherine Whittaker - Protaganist
  • Steph Bolton - Girlfriend of the protaganist's ex-boyfriend
  • Gary - Protaganist's ex-boyfriend
The protaganist will be represented as very perculiar, abnormal movement and we have included red eyes on the Protaganist's eyes to ensure that our audience know that she isn't an ordinary girl.

The secondary characters are represented as the run-of-the-mill young couple, having conversations and someone's house.

Even though it would have been easier to use stereotypes, as the mojority of the media does, to get a point/character across quickly, we decided create a 'new' character, this will also build up the enigmas. The audience also wouldn't have a predictable ending their head, as you may if stereotypes were used.

As we have intended to creat a British opening sequence, to a British film, then the charcters are not stereotypes, especially not the protaganist.
The protaganist has abnormal movement, The protaganist does not speak and she keeps the same look all the way through the piece.

The secondary characters have typical physical movement, happy behaviour and speech is the same as any other person.

Filming

I think that as a whole our opening sequence turned out the way we wanted it to. One of the major problems was the lighting, as we could never get it to the exact same as the previous shot, if we had more time we would improve on the lighting by filming at certain times of the the day so that it is consistent. This was also a major problem because we had to film the outside shots quickly so that the lighting on the inside shots was similar to the previous ones. Therefore it ruins the continuity of the opening sequence but we tried to film at different times on separate days to improve this and overall it seems fine but if it could be improved by having more time that is what we would do, I think that the editing went really well as we shot lots of footage and chose the best shots and edited them until we were happy with the final products.

Audience

We can use GRASS to determine what audiences our opening sequence will attract the most. Our film is aimed towards any gender and any race of people but as we have researched it is mostly males that are interested in the sci-fi horror thriller genre.

The age group it is aimed at is 16-25 as this is the age group that the film would appeal to more also the people in this age group will be able to relate to the plot and the characters the most, as the group who go to the cinema the most ( BFI HAndbook)

I also believe that the Reformers or Succeeders would be the lifestyle grouping that would watch the film.
